Let’s hope Gerry Brownlee and Paula Bennett don’t pick up on this policy initiative from Australian Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.
Gerry Brownlee likens the Government’s Schedule 4 mining proposals to “a postcard on Eden Park”. Coromandel Watchdog sees it somewhat differently, and has produced this scale image to help us all see it their way:
I confess I haven’t looked it up, but surely it must be a record that 7 of the 12 questions to be asked in parliament today are about the same topic – mining our last remaining protected places.
Instead of engaging in a witch hunt to attempt to identify those responsible for Cabinet document leaks, the Government should be reviewing the Official Information Act, and its own practices under it, to ensure that information is publicly available as a matter of principle rather than kept secret to give the public the mushroom treatment for Government’s own political convenience.
