It’s the start of another week and I wanted to give you a quick update on what’s happening in relation to our efforts to form a new Government for New Zealand.
We’ve been working hard to ensure that the issues that we care about the most are at the heart of a new, Labour-led Government.
Our negotiating team is being supported by an extended group, from diverse backgrounds, with a depth of experience, knowledge and history of the Green Party – from MPs, to people working for environmental NGOs and government departments, IT consultants, political, media and communication advisors, negotiators, Māori development, researchers, and of course Jeanette Fitzsimons!
Once we have an agreement, we’ll be taking it to an online meeting of delegates, from all our local branches around the country, to get final sign off. We’ve opted for an online meeting so that we can reduce costs to branches, and flights. We’ll be able to have a more diverse range of participants – being able to afford to fly or drive to Wellington will not be a barrier to participation.
There is a very real possibility that the Green Party will be part of a new Government. We can assure you that no matter what the outcome is, we will continue to fight for action on climate change, clean rivers and poverty.
If you would like to be a part of this process please get into contact with your local branch – we welcome your feedback.
