Other things are not bigger than politics such as the parole board releasing NZ’s youngest murderer.

Medallion of Quixote to Jeanette Fitzsimmons.
Jeanette’s credentials for the Spanish Gold span over some years, the specific commendations are : Tenacity and Courage
Until now I have been unable to recognise Jeanette because the rednecks would not allow me to award the medallion to anyone in the Green party.
However common sense has finally prevailed and I do hereby award Jeanette the medal.
The medallion will have the effect of imparting even greater Courage and Strength to the awardee.

the medallion can be sen on my site

The Medallion may be uplifted or observed at my site. It is heavy pure spanish gold and will probably need at least two fwogs to carry it.

    The Smart Green Party:

“Smart Green requires quality scientific research to establish what effects a changing climate will have on New Zealand, so we may develop intelligent policies for today’s mounting environmental and conservation issues.

Climate change is a justifiable concern. By the same token, we need to recognise the significant scientific uncertainties that still exist.

We should adopt a policy of least regrets. Our particular concern should be energy security. The Middle East remains volatile. Anything we can do to reduce our dependence on oil has to be good for the country and coincidentally helps us with climate change concerns.

For this reason, ACT supports a bipartisan approach to energy security, and anything that reduces dependence on oil.

We should make the search for other economic means of power generation a priority.

Innovation is also important in the production, distribution and use of energy supplies. Economic policies that facilitate innovation are good for the country and good for our response to shifting environmental threats.

It’s not good enough to be green. We must be Smart Green.”

The “Smart Green Party” is the Act Party (if you can’t beat them join them!).

Jh says; “The “Smart Green Party” is the Act Party (if you can’t beat them join them!)”.

Whats smart or green about act?(Beat? they don’t even get 5% of the party vote)

Jh says; “quality scientific research” What do act know about quality scientific research? (They don’t even grasp the concept of exponential growth with finite resources)

Jh says; “significant scientific uncertainties”(give me some examples and cite the “quality scientific research”)

Lets see if you can back-up your words Mr Smart Green Act.

They weren’t my words I copied and pasted from their website. I was pointing out their (cynical) shift which no one appears to have blogged about.

  12. StephenR Says:

I guess this is a ‘general’ thread…ACT is VERY vague here, a lot of that could mean anything. I remember seeing a summary of their environmental policies from the last few elections and among all that was “polluter pays”, coupled with ‘full respect for private property rights’…hmm. The Standard might be asking Rodney a climate-change question in their ‘Ask the Leaders’ series…http://www.thestandard.org.nz/?p=1649

  13. Janine Says:

Glad to see that Green issues are seen as ‘normal’ even if it is cynical for now. When Values first began to discuss the environment and its connectedness to all other issues, they were scoffed at for being unrealistic. None of those things was considered ‘political’. We have come a long way.

    cool vid..

you would be well advised to do campaign ads along those smart/edgy lines..,

(please..!..no more walking slowly through wherever..!..

    ..to a swellingsoundtrack..!

    ..eh..?..)

they must be even more scalpel-like than this example..

it’s going to be very noisy out there..

and the effective selling of this message..

..will be crucial in this most important of elections..

if this is an example of where things are heading..

    ..that is encouraging..
