Flags for life

Well, perhaps there wouldn’t be so much clamouring about police shortages in Wellington if there weren’t a million and seven (well, more like twelve) spending the afternoon providing the Indonesian President a cordon of security as he arrived to met the Prime Minister. Some of the cops weren’t too amused by Rod and Nandor turning out with the flags of two peoples - those of Aceh and West Papua - that Indonesia has occupied and oppressed over the past several decades.

Read more about the situations in West Papua here and Aceh here. The assembled Indonesian media gave Rod and Nandor a good grilling, and they’re hoping their vigil will convey to the Indonesian President that thousands of Kiwis don’t approve of what his government’s military adventures.

Rod and Nandor’s staff - including some of their spin doctors - were asked forcefully by the police to get off the Parliamentary forecourt, and behind the security barriers like everyone else. “It’s okay for MPs to be here, but not staff!”, they barked. Quite right. If we’re going to have annoying protests, we at least want them orderly!

More protesting - what is it with these greens. Don’t we pay these peoples salaries, why are they allowed to do this, degrades our country especially when we hear that the other protestors were paid to get out there by the greens.
How come they weren’t in their offices working, is this because they were paid under the red blanket -dam commies they are the only sort that protest and they protest about everything. I can’t myself understand why the guy with the dead hair hanging around his legs is allowed to go around like that, disgusting, they should boot him out and that one with the bracers - he likes to kid us that he cycles places and all of this, I’ve seen him in his white van around Christchurch many times don’t be fooled by his drivel.
