NZ Green Party
Animal Welfare video shoot

The launch of our exciting new Animal Welfare campaign is just around the corner (25th August). The Animal Welfare Act is under review for the first time in a long time, and we’d like to see some big changes.

Last week some of our staff headed up to The Animal Sanctuary in Matakana to interview some animals and get their take on the state of animal welfare in New Zealand ;)

Sanctuary owners Shawn Bishop and Michael Dixon know the story of each and every resident there – and it wasn’t always easy hearing their stories. We have a duty of care for domestic animals no matter what they are bred for, and often fail in this duty. Tougher laws are a very important way of ensuring justice on their behalf and preventing future harm.

The results of our shoot will emerge in the form of a short video, featuring Green Animal Welfare spokesperson Mojo Mathers, which we will launch through our social media channels next month.

Stay tuned!

  1. Nice one ! Closer to the time when submissions are being called for I will be asking people to include the cruel practice of chaining goats on roadsides , please see the website.
