It’s critical that Greens get massive support from all age groups in the next election. In spite excellent new initiatives that the party has announced over the last 12 months I suggest that the perception of the party is still that we are just a pack of “tree huggers”. Is it possible to change that perception if the party could, for
instance it’s policy on mining to emphasise rather than “No mining” say “We can live with mining with more realistic returns to the crown coffers, greater security provisions and more and better policing/auditing of required processes. Surely the result would be the same; miners would go elsewhere to improve their returns
A working Party on GMO risks, representing all councils in Northland and Auckland, has recommended councils prohibit commercial outdoor uses of GMOs and require Resource Management Act consents for outdoor field trials.
