All too many people in this world need protection – protection from human rights abuses.
They inspired my colleagues and I to get out of parliament this week and go support Pussy Riot
What I love about Amnesty is they create a platform for all of us to support, actively monitor and defend human rights regardless of how busy we might be or where we might live.
As they say”
” Every single person has rights – that is the essence of our humanity. Each of us has the duty to stand up, not just for our own rights, but also for those of others.
We believe human rights abuses anywhere are the concern of people everywhere
- We pledge to harness the power of individuals to galvanise action for justice and equality
- We are outraged at some leaders’ betrayal and are determined to hold them to account
- We are committed to creating a world in which every person can realise their human rights”
