The problem is that Bernanke is a scholar of the Great Depression, and is fearful that you will end up with deflation akin to what happened then. Of course, economists still debate what really caused the Great Depression, and I personally suspect that the trade wars caused it more than prices going down.
Bernanke should not be fearful of creating another Great Depression – he should be fearful of creating another Weimar Germany circa 1922 and 1923. I for one don’t want to see Franklins being used as wallpaper in a few years.
