Of all the elements, water is the most highly regarded by frogs. We’re first to notice when it’s polluted or scarce - it’s our sensitive skins – we need clean water – it’s Natural Glow for amphibians! Plants too, look their best when adorned with water, as this dewy pea flower shows.

Latest news is that the Government is going to use our taxpayer funds to subsidise Canterbury dairy factories on loss-making irrigation schemes in Canterbury.
The Government is apparently open to funding irrigation schemes in Canterbury providing all the commercial solutions have been exhausted !
They are saying that if there is no commercial reason for an irrigation scheme to proceed, then the Government may subsidise it with taxpayers’ money anyway.
That means agribusiness like the big dairy factories gets singled out for taxpayer subsidies because they have the Government’s patronage !!?
The people of New Zealand and Canterbury will lose out because our rivers will be drained and polluted so that these dairy factories can succeed.
So it’s no surprise to learn that the legislation to eliminate Canterbury’s regional democracy was driven by these business irrigation interests.
The Government rolled Ecan because it and the proposed water conservation orders messed with their plans for agribusiness welfare ! That was never a part of this Government’s public mandate !!

‘review’ them).

@frog – just keep on remembering that while water may be dear to a frog’s heart, it can be dear to a camera too – very dear!

Did you know, there’s a marsupial frog!
