I had a read through the "Getting There" pamphlet Catherine Delahunty gave out when appearing at the Vic Uni students union meeting, she was speaking in support of a resolution by the union to support a 40% emissions reduction (others and I moved a republican motion) interesting thing for an MP to attend, anyway I found the pamphlet plausible... I personally think the Greens need to drop the opposition to free trade and start to move legislation treating pollution as force (similar to physical force) exerted against others... I sent a big long costed (roughly) e-mail about a 15 year green infrastructure investment plan to all the Green MPs about 6 months ago that I haven't heard back about...

It has lots of detail and has been developed with a lot of collaboration with the relevant industries and experts, so is both credible and practical. You seem to see any Government spending, and particularly Government spending that supports the creation of (productive) jobs as being hard-left extremism. I think I'm right in saying that this places you to the right of every member of the New Zealand Parliament (except maybe Roger Douglas). It's kind of sad that you don't have better uses for your time than to hang around on our website. The real surprise for me as we developed this package was the fleshing out of some of the components of our "Getting There" package on emissions reduction. The amount of Carbon that can be stored through this very modest investment by Government is extraordinary, and rather gives the lie to Nick Smith's endless hand-wringing and claims of how devilishly difficult it is to make major changes. What this new package confirms is achieving major emissions reduction is, to quite a great extent, just a matter of trying a bit. As with all the other Green New Deal ideas we have developed we would be very pleased to see them taken up by Government.
