Check out these images from the Sign On marches for climate action in Auckland and Wellington on Saturday.
Our co-leader Russel Norman led the charge in the march at Auckland, sharing a banner with Bunny McDiarmid, Executive Director of Greenpeace NZ and the Warrior Princess Lucy Lawless.
David and Russel also enjoyed the Planet A Concert for the climate afterwards in Myers Park, where they both sported scarves given to them by the Dalai Lama, earlier that day. It seemed appropriate, especially given how threatened the Tibetan Plateau is by climate change.
Keith Locke also attended the march, accompanied by one of our youngest Greens.
Finally, the Greens were highly visible at the Wellington march, where Metiria gave an inspiring speech.

Phil –
How could you not have known this was on, Greenpeace practically wallpapered the country in fliers for the Sign-on march, and have been promoting this event online for the past two months very heavily?
You claim to be very media-savvy, but this comment either is a huge piss-take, or proves you to be completely out of sync with the major environmental organisation in NZ.
Frog is not obliged to re-post marketing material for other organisations; and as Greenpeace had such an effective PR machine in place, it was hardly neccessary.
I’ve had anything up to five different networks sending me info on this event, so I can’t understand how you can claim to be in the dark about it. Or are you relying solely on Fairfax/Murdoch enterprises for your news?

it was indeed a great march to join in, even if our numbers in Welli didn’t give any competition to Auckland’s turnout. Thanks for the pix, I’m only sorry I didn’t have my camera on me on the day!
Big ups to the teams at the Green offices who helped on the day, it was very well organised and good to see co-operation between different organisations to get supporters there.

i mean..you really are talking rubbish there..katie..
and anyway..the salient point was:.
“.(you do this all the time..reports on green-events..after those events..’
nothing to do with the greenpeace p.r machine..
and yep..!..the m.s.m. studiously ignored it before the event..
and..um..!..wouldn’t just that ignoring-fact increase the imperative on frog(blog)..?..you’d think..?..
(esp. from the party that constantly complains about being ignored by the m.s.m..?..you’d think..?)
so.if like me…who sometimes says ‘unwelcome’ things about greenpeace-bbq’s..and the like..
and therefor is not on their ‘mailing-list’…
the silence was deafening..
(esp. in contrast to the rightwing/smackers march that preceeded it..)
(and yes..given i am all over the media..every day..
..and it wasn’t in my face..
speaks volumes on the failures of those tasked with promoting the march..
..you’d think..?..
cd help to explain the lousy turnout..?
you’d think..?)

I received a text about it, heard ads on the radio and saw flyers up plastered all over Auckland before the March, you’d have to live in a cave not to know about it…

I hope film was taken of these useful idiots and when the trails begin that they are played to remind everyone who it was who were fervent about impoverishing us all and crippiling our childrens futures with this religious bunk that was known to be impotent to halt any climate change even before it began.
