A Southland meat company’s move away from halal killings for commercial reasons led to a surprising economic benefit – new business from Christian farmers.

Blah, blah ..

He stressed the company did not stop halal killings because of demand from Christian farmers, but because it was economical.

But there was a ” small minority of farmers” with strong Christian views who did not want meat killed according to Sharia law.

(Did not want “meat” killed ..??? – animals are “meat” ??)

” A number farmers decided to support Blue Sky for that reason. It is a group, it’s not massive, but it is noticeable”.

Thanks Sir H. Maybe I was subconsciously playing on words – i.e. the notices may be an underground protest movement? Fungi probably don’t sprout anyway – whether above or below ground (or between toes). Point taken, and your pedantry can be rewarded by me ticking “like” on your comment.

As someone who knows something about truffles, can I be a pedant and point out that they don’t “sprout up”? They are underground mushrooms that have to be dug up, not flashy in-your-face fungi like giant puffballs or those little blue things you get on the West Coast…

I wonder if DOC will license a nappy franchise at Te Anau. Could be a real moneymaker.
