This frog has always appreciated Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s Real Time, for his political analysis and biting wit. Here he takes on the “birthers”, whose campaign to expose Obama as not an American citizen has taken on nearly cult status. No PC zone is Bill’s show. Enjoy.

Why don’t they just pull the damned certificate out and show these nutters?
If Bill is correct, and they will just keep pushing the issue, wouldn’t that be the sensible thing to do?
I can’t stand the extreme left or right in America, they are both tearing their country to bits, seemingly fighting over the right to say “I told you so”.
Hopefully NZ doesn’t continue down the same track.

Bill Maher, the poor man’s Jon Stewart, delivering one of his “clever” jokes yesterday:

Stewart is clever and witty – even when you disagree with what he’s saying. Maher, on the other hand, is like those third-rate right-on comics in the 80′s who thought all you had to do to merit a laugh was keep mentioning the name of Ronald Reagan.

US Citizenship is the Holy Grail in America
Obama was always going to polarize many of that Country’s myriad Citizens.
Obviously the Rule has already been thrown out.
The Right see Communism right behind Socialism there.
But the fact is they need a National Health Care Program.
The lack of one in such a wealthy Country is almost unique – certainly in the West. Is shamefull really.
Even their returned soldiers are’nt properly looked after.

Another of his Names is “Hussein” for Allah’s sake…

Agree they should just release it, though the certificate of live birth that anyone can order from their state has always been considered enough proof. Plus you’d think the word of the Republican Governor of Hawaii and the Director of Health would be enough for most. There are other sorts of evidence as well, like the fact that his birth was announced in two Hawaiian newspapers the week he was born.
Jon Stewart puts it best: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/23/jon-stewart-eviscerates-t_n_243383.html

I think they are both very good. Stewart’s show of course is outright comedy, while Maher’s is not, though he does stand up separately. Some of his commentary is the best around, if you like his political views of course. The two clips posted on the Standard recently about the failure of Obama and the Dems to seize the moment are priceless.

If McCain had won the election, I wonder if there’d be similar consternation around the fact that he was born in Panama (he was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which was administered by the US government, but not officially part of the US). Of course this has no effect on his suitability or otherwise for the presidency, but it does leave the question of whether he’s legally eligible ambiguous.
I suspect Democrat supporters wouldn’t have made an issue of it -just like how Republican supporters made a big issue of the fact that Bill Clinton had smoked marijuana, but Democrat supporters never made much of an issue of the fact that George W Bush had used cocaine.

Bush Jr a very astute Man K! He spent Vietnam drinking beer in Texas – good point though….I’ll have a look for the reason behind that Law – though it’s xenophobia dressed up I’d think.
Phil: Frankie Howard is gone; Monty Python Grew up….Tony Hancock found the downside too much.
Benny Hill died, of Hooter fever far as I can tell
Steptoe and Son are still out there, in

that’s the quality of laughter we had then

The damn thing has been posted online and viewed by many prominent americans who’ve bloody well testified they’ve seen it including the republican governor of Hawaii. I don’t know how much more “showing” you can do.

What’s posted online is a certificate of live birth created years later. Still a very official document and good enough as proof for any other American, but not the original. This resides in Hawaii and I’ve seen it claimed on NBC that Hawaii has a law that originals are not made public, though Obama’s has been cited by the Governor, etc. That’s a strange law, but does explain things.
