National and Act just voted against Metiria’s Marine Animals Protection Law Reform Protection Bill. 111 Maui dolphins left and National tells us current protections are adequate. The end of the blue greens.

I’d like to know why beneficiaries get more in transfers then many working people get in wages and why exposing that FACT is attacked as “beneficiary bashing”?

I wouldn’t be so sure about the right and the environment given Gareth Morgans book and seminars and the work Infometrics is doing on (eg) the emission trading scheme. Then there is Herman Daly’s work plus work on land tax at the NZAE. The greens are too wedded to the far-left to go beyond where they are stuck now: 2010 <10% 2015 <10% (that’s still a lot of ravers receiving $170,000 however).

Really. When they take some sensible action I’ll reconsider. And as many have pointed out the ETS will provide many opportunities for ticket clipping – business as usual for big business. Worse, the ETS is the only measure the govt is taking to reduce emissions. That’s why they’re setting such a pathetic target. No complimentary measures planned at all even though there is some very low hanging fruit.
Then there is Herman Daly’s work plus work on land tax at the NZAE.
And the right talks up Herman Daly???? Only the Greens do.

Yes, we should join the blue greens and not even be part of the debate.

Ministers get $170k. Yes they are ravers.

Adieu biodiversity! It seems that one of the major planks of environmentalism is to lose any credibility as far as this country’s wise rulers are concerned.
Mind you, current economic thinking will invariably support short term profits and production over long term sustainability. It is like comparing a sky-rocket with a shooting star. The terms of reference are not in the same ballpark.
We need to ask ourselves what is the value of these species? Do we take an anthropocentric stance and try to justify their continued existence on the basis of how they are useful to us (mankind)? Or do we posit an inherent value on the species – or on the individual members of those species – in much the same way as we (supposedly) regard human life? Or do we try to somehow show that biodiversity is itself of value either instrumentally (to us) or intrinsically (like us).

Well I tried several times to contact the blue greens to enquire how one might join such an organization, and I never got any response.
I guess I will just have to start my own “partaay”

9. Stabilize Population. Work towards a balance where births and in-migrants equal deaths and out-migrants. Make contraception available. Have a public debate on the numbers of migrants to be accepted and be firm on violations. This is in accord with NBR’s brilliant editorial on Friday, July 3.
[what about the DPB acting as an incentive for people to give birth_ Not true ofcourse]

You could take an objective view as when Paula Bennet shows us that people on the DPB are getting more than self reliant workers you call it “beneficiary bashing”. No wonder the people of Hornby don’t like your pamphlets.
How much do list MP’s get (less than the DPB I hope!)

What’s that supposed to mean. Do we have to worry the Nats are about to reverse themselves, declare a 30% target and grab all the glory?

Lost a lot more than a nominal conversation Russel.
For years Aussies have been celebrated as the Worlds great cultural bogons.
Well I can tell you; – they wouldn’t permit this sort of pig-ignorance.
Our Government appproves it – are all their gears reverse?
When’s the next Election? Not soon enough!

I don’t mean in this piffling political party system, I mean out there in the community where people think for themselves.

There was a “Blue-Green” partty some years ago – Stephen Rainbow was involved and a few others. I can’t remember the name as they got very few votes and vanished without a trace. The right-wing environmentalist constituency does exist, but it’s tiny.

rightwing green party: (also known as ‘eco capitalism’ sometimes)
The Progressive Green Party was an environmentalist political party in New Zealand. It was established as a “blue-green” party – that is, one which is environmentalist (“green”), but is economically right-wing (“blue”) rather than left-wing (“red”).
Prominent members of the new party included Stephen Rainbow (a former member of the Wellington city council), Guy Salmon (head of the Maruia Society, forerunner to today’s Ecologic Foundation), and Gary Taylor (a former Waitemata City city councillor).
In the 1996 election, conducted under the new MMP system, the Progressive Greens won only 0.26% of the vote, considerably below what they had hoped for. No Progressive Greens were elected to Parliament. The Progressive Green Party did not contest any further elections, and is now disbanded. Many of the party’s members, however, are now associated with the Bluegreens, an environmental “task force” within the National Party. Stephen Rainbow and Guy Salmon, once prominent in the Progressive Green Party, stood as list candidates for the National Party in the 1999 election and 2002 election, respectively, but were not elected.

Ah yes, well that’s great news and there’s lot’s of examples like transition towns, community gardens, etc. If that’s outflanking, bring it on, but of course its not. Many Greens are involved in both. It will take a concerted effort in all spheres of society to get on a sustainable footing and politics is only one aspect. All activities are important.
