Green MP Kennedy Graham is on a mission to outlaw war. This week, he took his first significant step towards that end with the launch of his Member’s Bill, the International Non-Aggression and the Lawful Use of Force Bill. I talk to Kennedy about the likelihood of achieving his vision for a world free of aggression and conflict.
One Way to Free the World From War (MP3 and OGG)

Should war, as part of good parental correction….

It’s the only way most of the world even approaches the problem of overpopulation. What would happen if we took this approach away as well?

Prehaps a bioweapon which stops women from ovulating in response to hormones but allows ovulation through consumption of a pill
Would be better to take it from the male side of things as there would be less potential developmental problems but i understand it is much harder to make men temporarily infertile
, that and a single man can potentially insemiante hundreds of women in any one year

The only way to free the world of war is to free the world of people.
Sadly some greens propose this very thing.

A bioweapon that stops PMT, you mean. Then maybe PMT is a bioweapon!

I accept that they exist, but ‘green’ is an extremely broad church, which is why using them for point scoring on the NZ Greens’ blog (if one were to try such a thing) would be a churlish thing to do.

further to that, how do you “potentially inseminate”?
Am I potentially inseminating now? Will I know when it happens?
Will I want to do it again?

Dunno about you but I reckon someone my age has the potential to inseminate 600 to 1000 per year. Not a task I would envy too much though. Would get like writting lines
.
Then again every time one has unprotected sex with a fertile partner whilst one is fertile themselves it is a potential insemination, particuarly as the pairs get older, lol.

Good luck with trying to rid the world of war … and domestic violence …. and workplace bullying … and school bullying … so much conflict on the world! Some fundamental changes seem to be required.

You fella’s are the one’s suggesting that war can actually be stopped, and the only way to stop it is to rid the planet of people, I guess this is a doctrine of your “church”

Shunda, much worse than churlish. We have neither suggested war can be stopped, nor called for ridding the planet of people. You didn’t even listen to Kennedy’s podcast before shooting off at the mouth did you. When you speak out against the terrible UN, we’re supposed to respect your understanding of “world history and life experience”, but you don’t even bother to get basic facts correct.

Much easier – rid the world of seven deadly sins -there will be no war.

Not really my church fella. And now you seem to be saying the ‘big-G’ Greens want to rid the planet of people, eh?

Maybe after Kennedy Graham has banned war, Sue Bradford could ban the murder of children.
I expect he’ll have just as much luck.

“Church” Shunda?
Why do you insist on framing everything as a ‘church’?
btw – war can be stopped. It often is.

I would like to see a sensible discussion on what causes war and how humankind can address that problem.
While eliminating people is a solution, I mean really what kind of a loose cannon would make such a suggestion and expect us to take it seriously.
If it was a joke well I’m not laughing!!! I’m yawning!!!
I am sure in the dark days of the early 20th century war was a kind of parental correction but those of the trenches of the 1st world war never talked about it.
Today we look on the practice of cannibalism as totaly barbarac yet in renaissance Italy (and the rest of Europe) it was practiced every time a famine occured.
I hope the worlds populus will one day look on wars in exactly the light.

As said by fin, ‘war as population control’?? no, you’d never have control over it anyways, i.e. both population and war. i disagree the comments voiced in the podcast by Kennedy Graham. There’s no way to either stop or predict war for the longterm. All these are truly political statements and should just be ignored.

Yes, just let wars happen. No reason to comment.
Few have discussed on the substance of Kennedy’s bill, which is to be able to hold accountable NZ leaders under NZ law if they join an action in another country deemed illegal under international law. Do you disagree with that too, or was the purpose of your post really just to spam us with your website?

The primary cause is people with ambition whom seek to manipulate others in the expectation of benefit for themeselves. The secondary cause is te hatred resulting from feelings of victimisation; both the hatred and feeings of victimisation normally caused to burn via the efforts of the aforementioned type of individual.
Prevention? Tall poppy syndrome would go pretty far, would stop alot of good things unfortunatly too. Education would help nullify the victimisation and hatred and make people less easy to manipulate. A bill like Kennedy’s could go far in creating anti-warmonger attitudes.
As to birth control; being serious now, war is more likley to increase the population that decrease it as a response to teh increased displacement and poverty and the higher death toll.

Rach;”There is no way to either stop or predict war for the long term”
What a load of reactionary superstition, wars can and have been prevented (El Salvadore, Venezuela of late) If it wasn’t for the unification of Europe God knows what state the world would be in. And were there any wars within the defunct USSR? as much as people found it oppresive.
Such statements attest that humans live in a state of fate and those of subjective minds leave their lives in the hands of the gods. Those Gods (with a small g) are usually demi-gods with a well planned hidden agenda for control and tyranny.
Those who can best predict the future are those who have planned for the future and if the agenda is open, honest and sustainable then there is no reason why it can’t be put into practice.
Collectively humans can control their destiny!!!!!!!!!!
