In the third video on Enviroschools, we have Green Party education spokesperson Catherine Delahunty enquiring of the Prime Minister why he saw fit to cut funding to such a successful programme, and one that NZ trade negotiators are busy ‘selling’ in the trade talks with Brunei, Chile and Singapore!

So whats the big deal?
Catherine is not listnening to JK, teachers can continue to teach about the environment can’t they? Sustainability is a community issue.
Greenfly did just remind me “it takes a village to raise a child” I guess the village will just have to get more involved.

And somewhere there is a village missing an idiot.
How many times does John Key need to answer the same question before the answer sinks in? No one is stopping anyone teaching kids about the environment.

Peter said: No one is stopping anyone teaching kids about the environment.
He might as well say,
No one is stopping anyone teaching kids how to spell, so let’s cut its funding!
Maths? No one is stopping anyone teaching that. English? The savings $$$ !!!

In case you hadn’t noticed, Greenfly, New Zealand spends more than it earns. Therefore, some nice-to-haves (looks like a Green propaganda exercise to me) will be cut in favour of must-haves.

Yes Peter – must haves.. like a cycleway, a wharf to become ‘party central’ and $30 000 000 + for poor, struggling private schools, it does sound as though some nice-to-haves need to be cut (only Key is making sure they’re from someone elses house. You need only look to the way Key didn’t make cuts to his own Tourism portfolio, the way he did to others.) Self interest, it’s a beautiful thing, to a Tory.

Must haves like the $35 million transferred to private schools.

Parents of children at private schools have been subsidising public school children for years! And they still do. At least this goes some way to redressing that, if only a token gesture.
How about handing back much of the education component of tax to parents who don’t use the state school system, yet are forced to pay for it, hmmmm?

Peter, you know private schools are breeding grounds for toffs, just as Enviroschools is all about ‘kids playing with worms’. Let them (the Toffy parents) pay their way.
