Greenpeace has done it again, bless their socks, and updated the Good Wood Guide just in time for your summer/Christmas shopping spree.
Want to know what the most sustainable wood products are? Start here.
Want to know which species are which? Start here.
Want to know which sustainable timber certifications are for real? Start here.
Outdoor furniture is often manufactured with wood of a dubious origin. But we can have long lasting outdoor furniture that doesn’t cost the earth. Thank you Greenpeace, for making all this incredible work available to everyone.

A lot of the native timbers are so hard they can be disassembled and recycled – oft times a century or more of being milled – food and shelter and the two basics for life and NZ has the capacity to cater for it’s 4 million people in luxury – in fact, if that hasn’t happened, then our Decision Makers must have screwed up royally somewhere.

We also grow in NZ a range of exotic timbers, such as the eucalypts, that are very suitable for outdoor furniture and require no treatment. We have made all our floors, architraves, window sills, decks and railings from locally grown and milled eucalyptus saligna – it’s a beautiful interior wood and a very strong exterior wood that weathers to an attractive silver colour.
For the interior finishes we used a superior natural oil/wax mix (found it in Te Awa) which is non-toxic, smells lovely while drying and is very effective – liquids just roll off it. Polyurethane finishes are toxic, you can’t move in for at least three weeks because of the fumes and they eventually crack and have to be redone.

Should really have an Apolitical Information Index for gems like this.
Posit no position – no comment…
Do Something and you’ll Wake the Ducks…
A good peacetime political model – perhaps, with visby’s lord…perhaps nekked on a surfboard…
