After Lockwood Smith swallowed his dead fish and Winston Peters suffered the ongoing accusations about taking secret donations from the fishing industry we find out now that Peter Dunne might have his own piscine scandal to deal with via the infamous Vela family. That certainly makes an improvement from his previous funding scandals. I wonder if this story on the man who’s party has declared no large donations since 2006 will turn out to be Dunne’s smoking fish?
It is of course a serious issue for more than just the ‘money for policy‘ reasons. New Zealand’s fisheries are desperately depleted by commercial fishing and the government needs to take urgent action to protect one of our most important environmental and economic assets. The suggestion that some politicians are making decisions on this issue for other, less ethical reasons is deeply troubling.

I see Russel has called for a Commission of Inquiry into the allegations of NZ First accepting “money for policy”.
IMO it should be extended to the allegations surrounding United Future, and these longstanding allegations relating to financial support in return for the National Party’s ACC privatisation policy.

Will that inquiry go as far to look into Jeanette’s past share holdings?

Of course not big bro, because there are no issues with her shareholdings. Can’t help regurgitating old lies again?

So Mr Dunne is not so colourless as he seems. His pasty exterior is like dough wrapped around mince (or in this case, fish).

But Gareth is only interested in the party vote, which was greater than for UF last time and could be even bigger this time.

“our man Gareth’ is campaigning for party votes only, because he does not want to split the anti-dunne vote.

Russel’s proposed Commission of Inquiry could also look into the “Peter Dunhill” allegations.
It has long been alleged that Dunne is/was in the pockets of the tobacco industry, but the way electoral finance operated until the start of this year, was impossible to prove.
A Commission of Inquiry could open it all up – United Future, NZFirst & National all face allegations of various “money for policy” deals. If those parties have nothing to hide, they should support an Inquiry.
