It seems James Bond has ditched the Aston Martin and BMW for a more full efficient car. Can Helen Clark do the same?

Oh yeah, I can just see that.
Russ; “PM, do you think we could have more efficient cars”
Clark; “No, sit there and be quiet”
Russ; “OK dear leader”

Russ: We’ll side with National! We could go either way on this! We’re neither left or right!

Hey, BB, I asked this on another thread and you ignored me, how come?
“BB, could you actually explain what is racist about requiring new immigrants to learn some history?”
“And, just out of interest, could you give a reference for your claim that the Green Party says New Zealand can do something about global warming by ourselves, as opposed to part of a global response?”

1 Because she is talking about learning Maori history only, I also fail to see the point in anybody learning about things that have happened in the past when these people are coming here for a new life.
The question I have for you is “would this test apply to refugees and terrorists like Zaoui?
2 Yes, Frogblog.

>>learning Maori history only
Maori cultural imperialism, surely?
How about asking the immigrant about where they come from, and their values, so we can better appreciate and understand the immigrant?

This is what was reported in the Dominion Post: “The Maori Party wants new immigrants to undertake a course on New Zealand and Pacific history before being granted citizenship.”
Are you saying the Dominion Post has got it wrong, or are you making things up?
Can you be a little more specific on question 2, or are you being deliberately evasive?
To answer your question: It’s not a test, Zaoui isn’t a terrorist and I wasn’t the one proposing it so I don’t know. Don’t particularly see why refugees shouldn’t be expected to learn some NZ/Pacific history though.
I’m not particularly opposed to BP’s sudden bout of cuddly PCness, I like learning about other cultures, but I rather feel those arriving have both more need, and more responsibility, to understand the host culture, rather than the other way around.
