Tagata Pasifika is dedicating a huge mount of its on-air time to discussing the election with pacific viewers – it is embracing its role as part of the fourth estate and giving viewers plenty of information to help them cast an informed vote. Last week it had Jeanette. discussing the section 59 amendment to the Crimes Act to end the legal defence for child beaters, and then talking about the impact of climate change on Tuvalu and Kiribati.
There has been a lot of discussion that pacific people will vote on morality issues like section 59. It might be though that what is really on their mind in the polling booth is the morality of what we are doing to the people of Kiribati and Tuvalu, by doing nothing of significance on climate change.

And of course Jeanette told these people that the efforts of NZ will not make ANY difference at all in combating climate change given that we produce 0.04% of the worlds emissions.
She DID say that I hope Frog??????

I also note that the Greens continue with the “child beater” lie.
Oh well, soon it will only be one child per family that you have to worry about if the Greens get their way.

big bro – following your shallow argument, you would say that the teacher in a classroom of 19 students will only add 1/20th to the amount learned in that classroom, yes?

Climate change: Everyone has a role to play to solve a global problem. New Zealand should not be a climate bludger!
That S59 let real child beaters off the hook is a documented fact. The liars are those who pretend otherwise, like big bro, who looks for new lies to repeat about the Greens, like the latest lie about our population policy.
He’ll never square it, greenfly, he’d have hardly anything left to post.

big bro – the link to what she said is in the post. I think you’ll find it covers your concerns. Also just for clarification ‘child beater’ is not a lie, it’s a debating point, much like ‘climate change’, with the evidence on one side and naysayers on the other. By comparison ‘one child’ is a lie.

Well well, it seems that Jeanette was simply scare mongering to gain votes for the Greens.
In the absence of any qualification from her on NZ’s ability to do anything about climate change I can only assume she is guilty of lying or treating these people as simpletons.
She is either a liar or a racist, which one is it guys?

She’s the ‘most trusted leader’ according to the majority of New Zealanders. You’re swimming, not only against the tide, big bro, but in a cesspool of your own making.

Really?
How else could you explain Jeanette’s omission then?, she really should have told the full story don’t you think?
Hardly the action of NZ’s most trusted leader.

Racist?
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

BB – this is racist talk from an MP. I can’t see anything in what Jeanette said here (or ever has said) that is.

Perhaps Jeanette thought “these nice brown people are just not smart enough to understand that NZ’s efforts will not save their islands so I had better not confuse them”.
You know her better than I do, perhaps you might be able to shed some light on the situation, she may have meant well but she is still either lying or racist, which one is it?

Its stupid talk, its dumb talk but it is not racist.
You really need to do something about your crippling case of PC.
On another subject, how big will the tax increases be when Dr Cullen delivers his mini budget should Labour and the Greens form the next govt, and why are you guys hiding Sue B away from the public?

Perhaps, but it’s not reasonable.

No need, I don’t waste my time watching left wing propaganda.
Now, given that you have not refuted my claim I can safely assume that Jeanette did not tell these people the full story.
Why do you think that is?

Since when is an interview propaganda?
“Now, given that you have not refuted my claim I can safely assume that Jeanette did not tell these people the full story.”
Because you didn’t watch the video. I haven’t watched it either, mind. But it seems like you came up with an idea (fitz is a liar and/or racist), but aren’t particularly interested in finding out whether you’re right or wrong, but are waiting for frog or toad to provide…though I could be wrong.

Sorry i fail to see the racism in wanting that people applying for citizenship (they don’t mention residency) know about the country they want to become citizen of.

big bro – your initial concern was that Jeanette would have told Tagata Pasifika that we could solve climate change all by ourselves. You had not evidence of this. You just asserted it. Jeanette in fact said (and I can’t believe I am bothering to transcribe this for you because you were too lazy to check for yourself before making false allegations):
My emphasis added

How the hell does teaching new arrivals about the history of NZ enable us to compete globally?
And the other question I have is who is going to write this history?

Thank you, what you have posted confirms my accusation that Jeanette (once again) did not tell the full story.
Mind you she is not alone in this, the entire Green party insists on pushing the lie that we can do something about it when that is totally false.

you argue that benefits should be abolished but your climate change argument is like a beneficiary arguing that since his taking a full-time minimum wage job would contribute negligibly to the economy he shouldn’t do so.
just because you perceive our responsibilities as global citizens to be minimal doesn’t mean we should ignore them.

BB, could you actually explain what is racist about requiring new immigrants to learn some history?
And, just out of interest, could you give a reference for your claim that the Green Party says New Zealand can do something about global warming by ourselves, as opposed to part of a global response?

just like the lunkhead who farts in the middle of a group of people to draw attention to himself, then does it again when everyone gags at his brainless behaviour – we have big bro and his ‘questions’. Does tend to strengthen the group though, in their opposition to dipstick behaviour

Act! Do they know he’s here? Do they condone his behaviour? Is he Roger Douglas? Does he wish he was? So many questions arise! Perhaps we should apply the ‘three strikes – you’re out’ rule. Is lying repeatedly an Act ‘thing’?

no way! Roger Douglas expresses himself in a way that sounds superficially intelligent, his philosophies are internally consistent, and he cares even less about animals than he does about people.
I have been wondering, for some time, if Big Bro is actually John Banks

My guess is that many Pacific voters will vote for the political party they think will be best for low income workers. You have to appreciate that many Pacific people work more than one full time job, and often these jobs earn close to the minimum wage. I don’t think (but may be wrong) that climate change policies will be a major determinant of votes.
I’ll be voting for the Greens.
