The Rotorua conspiracy
Kiwiblog has come up with the risible conspiracy theory that the Greens have decided not to stand a candidate in Rotorua because we’ve done some sort of back room deal with Labour. The Kiwiblog commenters have, understandably enough, skipped the evidence gathering process and skipped straight to implicating NZ First in the conspiracy too.
Sorry to be a fact providing party pooper but my understanding is that two different potential Green candidates were considering standing in Rotorua and both ended up not able to put their names forward for various reasons. I believe that we now have a potential candidate lined up but she has not yet gone through the democratic selection process.
We are however concerned about John Key’s increasingly leaky and ungrammatical performance on the campaign trail, and so in the interests of preserving the dignity of the grand old National Party, we are thinking about pulling our candidate in Helensville.
