There’s a nice little interview here on Scoop where the RDU’s Spanky talks to Russel about the polls, MMP, ‘Sustainability’ Labour, open source and free software and the need for tug of war at the 2012 London Olympics.

I think it would be very healthy for the environmental movement if the Green Party got 4.9% of the vote. The issues won’t go away they will just be redefined and refocused.

Greens you have nothing to loose but your Marxists.

Funny there was no banter on the name “Spanky”.
One more comment Linux: Policy needs a wide input. The problem with the smacking law is that the politicians went ahead guided my a self selected bunch of academics. In the submission process Sue Brdaford questioned Dr Millichamps motive for presenting contrary information…. the system needs a rethink

jh - If you want wider policy input, join the Green Party. No other party has as wide and encompassing policy process, which binds its caucus, rather than the other way around. We enjoy healthy, robust debate from our Marxists, our free marketers, our athiests, our religious and any other pair of opposites you want to throw at us. No other party embraces a wider diversity of views. To label us with only one label is just plain lazy.
So what you are suggesting is that all submitters to a select committee are created equal, are equally correct and should not be questioned about their motives or their facts? Ridiculous in the extreme.

Would certainly be keen to know why the ‘free marketers’ are interested in the Green Party. Perhaps they are ‘green’, but just joined in order to try and change the party’s direction a bit (or a lot)?

heh, wonder if that would be unethical…
