no no..i am not advocating doing away with all punctuation..

..just the surplus stuff..

..i mean..!..what’s with the capital letter..?

..in personal names it’s just ego/status-driven..

..there actually is no reason for the capital letter..

..each new sentence is given it’s own line..it’s own ’space’..

..(so your eyes slide naturally to that place..

..you aren’t having to search them out..wherever they may fall..

.. in the sea/forest of words..

(as insisted on by ‘loving grammer nazis’..)

..this way makes reading a far more rythmnic/pleasing experience..

..than the disjointed scramble insisted on by..again..

..those ‘loving grammer-nazis’..

the comma is dead..!

..long live the ellipses..!

..and as for your slander against that most expressive pieces of punctuation..

..the exclaimation mark..!

..how better to express disbelieving astonishment at the words of another..

..that the bracketed exclamation mark..(!)

..fitzgerald is wrong on that one..

..and anyway..what is attempting to write with any oomph/effect..

Phil, I wouldn’t mind if you abandoned punctuation in favour of liberation. In fact I’d celebrate it. But your writing is splattered with exclamation marks, brackets, apostrophes and ellipses. There are hundreds of them in even a short piece of yours, assaulting the reader.

On that measure, your writing is entirely self-absorbed.

Let your words really breathe, and abandon punctuation altogether. After all, what’s the point of stopping half way? You yourself admit that a part-time abolitionist is worth nothing. And yet that is precisely what you are.

..it’d be like being a part-time vegan..!

..i can’t be a part-time capital-letter/comma abolitionist..!

..it’s all..or nothing..

….and why do you trap your words/thoughts in the constraints of the seentence..?

..but especially the paragraph..!

(that prison of words..that came about because of the cost/shortage of paper..)

..my eyes water when i see/confront those blocks of words all jammed-up/pushed together..

..let your words/thoughts breathe..!

simple postcards.in green and black..(they go together so well..!..eh..?)
