Ling my nono -don’t look anything like a ling! ding ding. Actually it’s very noticeable the only way to see a fish properly is ‘under-water’. Once in the air their colour and vibrance rapidily disappears. After diving for 40 years I can attest to the savage, brutal, rape & pillage of the moana. In one generation most of kiwi’s have lost sight [ or did not know in the first place] of what kaitiakitanga is all about-and all for Billions of $ from overseas markets. It used to be ‘our’ kia and sustenance until greed came along. Fisheries management in Aotearoa is a miserable failure. The commercial fishing industry is composed of a large number of ‘environmental criminals’ who constantly ‘bend’, break’ or subvert fisheries Law, regulations and rules. It is noticeable that there is no quota for sea creatures. Once damage is self-evident it is almost beyond redeamtion. And NO I don’t catch fish anymore-have not done so for years-instead I make ,and help groups make, artificial ‘reefball’ reefs. see http://www.reefball.org
