Following on from Garth George’s endorsement of the Greens the rest of the Herald is now joining the Greens in celebrating Matariki by sharing with its readers photos from Metiria’s Matariki calendar and leading with the story on the front of its webpage.

I absolutely love this – and how sneaky of Metiria to get the best/most cool looking image! Coming from the Northern Hemisphere, I am looking for any reason to celebrate during the winter (when are we going to move Christmas for heavens sake) and Matariki is the perfect excuse!

How much tax payer money went into this pathetic thing?

Don’t know the details, BB, but I do know that Metiria chooses to do this as an alternative to sending out Christmas cards, which is what almost every other MP does, so I suspect about the same as most spend on that.
I would have thought, BB, that as someone who is on record on this blog as having no support for “Middle-Eastern superstition), you would support her doing something as an alternative to Christmas cards that has no overt religious connotations.

If you actually clicked the link, you’d see. You are both soooo busted
Raising awareness of Matariki sounds like a great idea, and it would be nice to see more MPs joining in. Too bad the Herald tries to spin this as a negative story by opening with how much it cost.

Fair enough, Ari. Do lots of blogs when I get the chance, but sometimes don’t do all the links on the thread before posting.
