Green Party Annual Conference

by frog

I’m off to Auckland tomorrow for the Green Party’s annual meeting at Waipapa Marae.  So you probably won’t hear much from me tomorrow.  But hopefully I’ll find a computer from which I can report on the three major Conference speeches over the weekend (Nandor on Friday night, Jeanette on Saturday morning and Russel on Sunday morning) as well as some more news about the other new and high ranking candidates are up to.

Transatlantic rower Rob Hamill (who also fronted some of the ‘Proud to be Green’ billboards) is also speaking on Saturday night.

There are two great guest panels. First on Sunday afternoon a food panel chaired by Green Agriculture Spokesperson, Nandor, and featuring TV star and former international chef to Madonna, Peter Chaplin, the Editor of New Zealand Gardener magazine, Lynda Hallinan, Maori organics advisor, Percy Tipene, and the Greens’ own farmer and food activist, Steffan Browning.

Then on Monday morning a panel on climate change hosted by Jeanette and featuring Cam Pitchers from Campaign for Better Public Transport, Simon Boxer from Greenpeace,  Barry Coates from Oxfam, Robin Allison from Transition Towns and Adrian Croucher from Cycling Advocates Network.

If you’re a Green Party member in or around Auckland you should take some time over the long weekend to join me for some or all of these events.
