Today in Matakana, family, friends and associates will mark the passing of Joe Polaischer. I have never met Joe, but from the tributes and stories making the rounds in Wellington the last couple of days, I get the feeling that I’ve missed a great opportunity.
From the Green Caucus in parliament:
Jeanette and the other Green MPs want to express their great sadness at the news of Joe’s passing. Jeanette says that Joe was a passionate believer in organics and permaculture and in teaching other people those skills. His workshops were an inspiration and his death is a terrible loss to the movement. The Green Party extend their thoughts to his family.

Joe was a tireless teacher, founding the Rainbow Valley Farm with Trish Allen in 1988. There is an interesting photo feature here. I certainly hope that their work can continue. Joe’s life is a great example of walking the talk towards a sustainable future. There is another and better informed tribute to Joe over at Permaculture NZ.
