From the Herald:
‘Ironically, in August Mr Key visited the Urewera and met prominent activist Tame Iti – one of the 16 people arrested during the October raids.’
I wonder if John Key is wondering who was on security detail that day and how deep does this conspiracy go?!

on the trolls and those who are unable to keep on topic
Tame and I sat next to each other on the marae at Waitangi. We got along famously, and I invited him to Parliament for further talks.
Unfortunately, he got caught up in a spot of bother with the Police about some theatrics shooting a shotgun at the New Zealand flag, and was consequently delayed meeting me for the talks we had agreed to have.
And before we could get to meet again, I got caught up in a spot of bother myself about what I may or may not have agreed with the Exclusive Brethren to get around the Electoral Act, and decided to retire from public life.
But Tame didn’t seem much like a terrorist to me.

So, Dr DB, I take it you are not the Crown’s secret witness for the Terrorism (oops, I mean Arms Act) Trials then.
No doubt the secret witnesses will appear in due course though, just as they did in the murder trials of Scott Watson and David Tamihere – two of the yet unresolved travesties of justice in this fair country.

Media has picked up this angle too:

Love this quote: “drove miles into the Ureweras to Owhakatoro Marae, which is so remote it has no cellphone coverage”. So remoteness is now defined in terms of cellphone signal strength. Remoteness is relative, so I doubt the Marae is considered remote by Tuhoe… In their case, Wellington is remote.

“The Maori Party believes the lack of action shows there was no real threat against Key. ”
it doesn’t show there was no real threat; it suggests a number of explanations such as (1) they were bandying ideas around but weren’t yet coalesced into action (and don’t do anything to alert them that we are on to them). The evidence is that they were traveling down a dangerous path and needed to be stopped.
………………
As Keith sat there smiling and nodding his head in agreement, Sykes told the audience (as transcribed by a member of that audience):
When I first saw the planes fly into the towers I jumped for joy, I was so happy that at long last capitalism was under attack.

The Green Party needs to do something about the nutter element.

You’re absolutely right JH, they are taking over frogblog and making it unpleasant for everyone else. If only they could keep on topic, avoid personal attacks, respect diversity of opinions, be polite, follow rational argument, provide references for their assertions and express themselves in a writing style that is understandable the blog would be so much more productive. Still … it takes all sorts to make a world.

If Keith behaved as reported it is inconsistent with the Green Charter principle of non-violence and increases the suspicion that peace activist‘s are just the fifth column.
‘Y’ won’t increase membership until there is a more…… (let me put it this way) ….> I like hot food but I prefer cabbage with my chilli.
The Green issues will always be there but I don’t think people want failed old solutions to new problems.
