Craig - Just the materials refining costs really. More important with Aluminum than Steel. Steel scrap is easier to turn into steel than iron ore so you save the energy of refining some amount of ore if you recycle the steel. That IIRC, is what they are referring to. - respectfully BJ

And suprisingly enough it's not made from hemp :)
Most likely it'll go to people have more chairs than they need anyway. Meaningless consumerism if you ask me....

Just as a matter of interest, how do you "recover" energy? Probably showing my age just by saying this, but there's only so much UE physics that stuck around longer than the exam.

I was going to make a comment about a range of office chairs — you know the type: they allow you to swivel round 180°, or, by thrusting forwards with your feet, you can backpedal at a great rate — but I couldn't think who was most deserving of naming rights :-)

Hmm, I'm not sure it can be described as eco-friendly Frog. The environmental information you quote is on similar lines to "recyclable" if you ask me.

I'm not a toxic chemicals in the home and full-cost accounting of the production of products expert so I can't comment on whether Nickel-plated Steel, Clear acrylic lacquer, Pigmented epoxy powder coating and Polypropylene plastic are safe or not. The only thing I recognise as environmentally friendly in the product description is Unbleached paper.

Perhaps the new UK World Wildlife Fund shopping guide website could help, called Safer Shopping...

"From soap to surfboards, deodorant to DVD players - this site is for people who would like to minimise their exposure to hazardous man-made chemicals found in everyday products, and reduce the contamination of our planet, but don’t how or where to start."
