Winston crosses his benches and hopes

by frog

A couple of weeks back I was first to reveal the stoush over which side of the House NZ First should sit on.

The Herald reports today that NZ First will, at least initially, sit where the Clerk of the House has put them. Deputy Leader Peter Brown says his caucus “knew how to eat a bit of humble pie”.

Brown and Peters’ remarkable misjudgement in trying to sit opposite the Government they are supporting may well have contibuted to their plunge in last night’s TV3 poll. In case you missed it, NZ First dropped to 3.5% from 5.7% on election night, while the Greens seem to have got some credit for losing out with dignity on the Cabinet game, increasing from 5.3% to 7%.

The House returns next week, with the first Question Time on Thursday.
