Heh. Helen Clark has delivered Rod and Jeanette the considerable compliment that they’re, um, middle-aged. Here’s the question-and-answer in the Herald on Sunday from yesterday:
Is the country ready for the Greens around the Cabinet table? A lot of people still see them as flaky.
There will still be aspects of what they stand for that people will see as being out on the edge, but by and large they see in Jeanette Fitzsimons and Rod Donald people in their middle years who have thought-out positions. So I don’t think the scary scenario works.
Helen does have a point here. I would defy anyone to meet Rod and Jeanette, and talk to them for an extended period of time, and then still describe them as scary…

yep, it’s funny how us grey-haired hippies-of-the-eighties are less scary than equivalently aged right wing targets……;-)

Heard Rod on right wing radio today talking to Leighton. He sounded like a genuine nice guy. He made sense. He spoke from the heart. (He was well ahead of the other “minor” party leaders.)
My American friends said the same when GW spoke pre his last election.
However I don’t think Rod or Jeanette will push us into foreign wars, downgrading civil defences, or promote fundamentalist religious ideology.
A friend told me that Brash was upset because he had lost his books on the plane ride and he was upset because he hadn’t finished colouring them in.
This is a lie. Don has moved on. He is now a fan of Enid Blyton…particularly “The Secret Seven”.
Speak for yourself Katie..my hair wasn’t grey when it fell out years ago.
