Brent Who?

It’s rumoured that no members of the Parliamentary Press Gallery can successfully name all thirteen NZ First and eight United MPs. I was thus highly amused to read the following snippet in Steve Braunias’ article in the Sunday Star-Times about having lunch with Winston Peters:

I had been advised Peters would bring along Brent Catchpole. My response had been bad form for a journalist, though probably in keeping with the rest of New Zealand: “Who?” Catchpole turned out to be a NZ First MP. That, and the fact he liked pizza, remained my sum knowledge of him after an hour in his silenced company.

Say what you will about Act and the Greens, but at least our MPs have made a mark on Parliament and left an impression with the country…
