Easter lessons
As Labour strategists sit down for a long Easter weekend with their families, they’ll probably be pretty pleased with how the year’s going. They’re ten points ahead in the polls despite a difficult first-quarter of the year, and the Nats are seemingly divided and led by a leader who’ll be uninspiring at the best of times and even worse during an election campaign.
But the left-leaning blogs are a’rumbling at Labour’s centrism and opportunism, at the expense of the party’s traditional values and constituencies. Where are its progressive policies?
In recent days, an interesting discussion has taken place over at spanblather and No Right Turn about this very issue. The conclusion to all this should be clear: if you don’t want Labour dragged to the right by NZ First and/or United, you have to vote Green, to give us the numbers to inject Labour’s third term with purpose.
